Questions and answers
Everything you might want to know.
If your question isn’t answered below, get in touch and we’ll talk it through. We’re always happy to help you decide whether a day on the water is right for your dog.
What is a Boat Dogs day out?
A full day adventure on the water: a scenic cruise, beach time, social play and plenty of rest, all carefully supervised. It runs around 5 to 6 hours, marina to marina.
How many dogs go on each trip?
Small groups only. We cap every trip at six compatible dogs so each one gets real attention and calm management on the water.
Is it safe, and what about the water?
Safety is the standard, not an extra. Dogs wear fitted life vests, boarding is controlled on non-slip surfaces, and the skipper is experienced in Auckland conditions and certified in canine first aid.
What kind of dogs are a good fit?
Well socialised dogs that are comfortable around people, other dogs and new places. Up to date vaccinations and being spayed or neutered (over 12 months) are required.
What happens if the weather turns?
We monitor the marine forecast and make the call every time. If in doubt, we don’t go, and we will rebook you for a better day on the water.
How do I get started?
The best way to start is a trial day. Get in touch and we’ll help you decide if Boat Dogs is the right fit for your dog.
Do you send photos?
Yes. Photo updates are part of every trip, so you get to see the day your dog actually had.
Where do you operate?
On the water around Auckland and the Hauraki Gulf, with beach spots chosen for the conditions on the day.
